Why Improv?

Because work rarely follows the script.

Improv gives teams a chance to practice being present, responding instead of rehearsing, and making the people around them look good.

01

Listen to build

Move beyond waiting for your turn to speak. Notice what's actually being offered and build from it.

02

Make ideas bigger

Experience what changes when a team replaces reflexive “yes, but” thinking with curiosity and contribution.

03

Get comfortable adapting

Practice staying flexible when the plan changes, the unexpected happens, or you simply don't have the perfect answer yet.

What the research says

The research behind Improv.

Improv is more than an icebreaker. Research has found that practicing Improv can strengthen skills that matter at work, including creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and comfort responding when the next step is not perfectly scripted.

Creativity

Experimental research has found that even brief Improv experiences can increase divergent thinking, the ability to generate multiple ideas and possibilities.

Communication

Studies of Improv-based professional training have reported improvements in communication skills, including listening, empathetic communication, and responding effectively in real time.

Teamwork

Research on applied Improv has documented gains in communication and collaboration competencies, with teamwork and trust appearing repeatedly as core learning outcomes.

Meet your facilitator

Where communication science meets the spontaneity of Improv.

Run With It is led by a speech-language pathologist with a background in Improv and theater, bringing together professional expertise in human communication with the energy, play, and flexibility of Improv.

As a speech-language pathologist, she works every day with the skills that make interaction successful: active listening, perspective taking, reading the room, adapting in real time, building conversational connection, and navigating moments when communication does not go exactly as planned.

Her work using Improv to support social communication and social skills has been presented nationally at professional conferences. That perspective gives Run With It a foundation that goes beyond team-building games. Each experience is intentionally designed around how people actually connect, collaborate, and communicate.

Her theater and Improv background keeps that expertise from feeling like a lecture. The result is a session that is purposeful without feeling corporate, structured without feeling scripted, and genuinely fun to be part of.

Questions, answered

“But I'm not funny.”
Perfect.

Do we need Improv or acting experience?

Not at all. The experience is designed specifically for people who have never done Improv. Activities begin low-risk and build gradually, with an emphasis on participation rather than performance.

Will people be forced to perform in front of everyone?

No. Run With It is designed to be engaging without embarrassing anyone. Depending on the session, activities may happen as a full group, in pairs, or in small groups.

Where do sessions happen?

We come to you at your office, retreat venue, conference room, hotel, or event space. Run With It serves Fairfield County, New Haven, Hartford, Westchester County, and the Greater New York area.

How many people can participate?

Sessions work especially well with small and midsize teams, and larger groups are welcome. Tell us your approximate headcount and we’ll recommend the right format and, when useful, additional facilitation.

Can you tailor the workshop to our team's goals?

Yes. Custom sessions can emphasize communication, collaboration, adaptability, leadership, presentation confidence, creative thinking, or another specific team need.

Is this team building or professional development?

It can be both. Run With It is designed to feel playful and energizing while practicing real workplace skills. We can lean more toward connection and team bonding, or build a session around specific communication, collaboration, leadership, or adaptability goals.

What kind of space do we need?

A conference room, training room, event space, or other open area usually works well. Ideally, participants should be able to stand, move around comfortably, and work in pairs or small groups. We can adapt the session to the space you have available.
